Our partner VakantieparkenNederland.nl recently visited with the family, Landgoed de Scheleberg in Lunteren. They wrote the following holiday blog:

A weekend to TopParken Landgoed de Scheleberg

Waking up knowing you're going on holiday for a weekend is already wonderful. Moreover, the weather gods are in our favour. The weather forecast promises blue skies with temperatures above 20 degrees. Yes, we are all madly looking forward to it! After a drive of just under two hours, we arrive at TopParken Landgoed de Scheleberg. The first thing you notice is the magnificent entrance. The beautiful pond is clearly visible through the trees. And behind the pond are the reception and restaurant. After a smooth check-in, we are assigned villa 538 by the friendly lady at reception. There is more than enough space at our villa to park two cars. That's convenient, as we have visitors coming later this weekend!

Our villa

The front door is not yet open or the kids shoot inside the villa, looking for a bedroom. Normally, this is a bit of a hassle for us, but this time it is quickly settled. There are three bedrooms on the first floor. With the children upstairs, that leaves us with the downstairs bedroom. That's no problem, as it has a connecting bathroom and its own television, which is ideal. Furthermore, on the ground floor there is a cosy sitting area with an atmospheric fireplace, a lovely terrace with stunning views and a spacious kitchen which lacks nothing.

Restaurant

We decide to have a nice dinner at the restaurant on the first evening. The park is home to the restaurant @thePark Asia. The menu includes many Asian dishes such as Pokébowls, sushi or delicious roast pork bacon. But there are also spare ribs or a very special dry aged Ribeye on the menu. Plenty of choice for everyone.

After a wonderful evening of dining, we return to our villa. The children go to bed and we watch another episode of our favourite series in bed.

The swimming pool, the playground and the football cage

The first morning starts with a cup of coffee on the terrace, overlooking part of the park. Then I take the children to get fresh rolls and we enjoy a delicious breakfast. Over breakfast, we discuss what we are going to do first. With this gorgeous weather, the choice is quickly made: the outdoor pool. After a refreshing dip and some water fun, the boys notice something else.

Next to the pool is a brand new playground and a dedicated football cage. Luckily, we took the ones on holiday with us. The rest of the afternoon we don't have to worry about the boys. There are lots of other children so the first game of football soon begins. As the playground is next to the pool, we can fortunately still keep an eye on them. With these temperatures, a cooling ice cream or a refreshing drink are no luxury. Luckily, there is a snack corner next to the pool.

By the way, the new playground is worth a separate mention. There is plenty of play equipment and the playground is spacious. There is plenty for the children to do, clambering and climbing, a nice sandpit and they can even go down the cable car.

Around the park

On the way back to our villa, we walk around the holiday park. We always enjoy having a look around the whole park. What strikes us first is the park's beautiful green and wooded surroundings. As the park is not fenced off, you can also walk straight into the woods. That is quite a cool experience and something we have never experienced before. Furthermore, it is wonderfully quiet at TopParken Landgoed De Scheleberg and the cheerful twittering of the birds gives a relaxed feeling. We also see many different types of villas. Some a bit larger than others, sometimes with a spa and/or a sauna in the garden.

BBQ

Back at the villa, at that moment our BBQ package is delivered. We had already ordered this online when we booked the villa. Tonight, friends are coming for dinner, so the BBQ service is convenient. Besides delicious cuts of meat and fish, the delicious salads and baguettes are not missing. And don't worry, you don't need to bring your own barbecue, as it comes with a gas barbecue.

The surroundings

On Sunday, we decide to explore a bit of the surrounding area in the morning. Although there are some nice walking routes, we decide to rent four bikes and choose one of the beautiful routes across the Veluwe. After a trip of about three hours, we return to the park and it's time for lunch. I had already seen on Friday evening that there were also some delicious dishes on the lunch menu, so we head to the restaurant again. The children have a toasted sandwich, hubby is always up for croquettes on bread and I have the Mongolian Chicken with fries.

After lunch, the children want to visit the pool and playground again. I myself stay at the cottage, where I can enjoy a good book on the terrace, in peace and quiet.

Finally

As the children have to go back to school on Monday morning, we leave Sunday evening. That's no problem because we had a wonderful weekend. We unwinded, ate delicious food and enjoyed the pool. I can only say one thing: Topparks, what a top place!
