Reading time : 1 Minute

My boyfriend and I just finished two weeks' holiday and very last minute we decided to get away from it all. We booked 4 days to the Veluwe in TopParken Beekbergen. In this review, I would like to tell you more about our stay, but also about the fun things we did in the region!

The stay in TopParken Beekbergen

We had a Comfort 6-person chalet. This is a cottage with a living room, kitchen, bathroom and three bedrooms. In one bedroom you have a double bed and in the other bedrooms two single beds and a bunk bed. I found it spacious enough for two people, but I would definitely find the living room a bit on the small side with six people. Although you'll soon be less bothered by this in good weather too, as you'll be sitting outside more on the accompanying terrace or out and about.

The design of the chalet is super nice and the interior really matches my personal style. There are nice paintings, artificial plants and very nice modern furniture. It all looks so new and fresh and the price is also a lot lower than comparable holiday parks.

The chalet was very nice and clean and on arrival you also get a package with all kinds of cleaning stuff, tea and coffee. It's pretty basic, but especially for a short stay, you soon have everything you need. The only drawbacks I found are that the lights in the cottage are very bright, especially since the room is not that big, and that the cottage heats up very quickly. The advantage, on the other hand, is that it does cool down quickly outside in the evening, because you are in the woods and you can quickly air the house by opening everything.

Otherwise, I am very satisfied with my stay in TopParken Beekbergen! The beds were really lovely, like sleeping in a luxury hotel. You had fast and long hot water, there is a dishwasher and you can sit outside on the terrace or in the grass. There are also many services at the park, so you can go to the restaurant, hire a barbecue and even order sandwiches for breakfast if you want.

The surroundings of TopParken Beekbergen

TopParken Beekbergen is located on the Veluwe, between Apeldoorn and Arnhem. As a result, there are lots of things to do nearby, but these are things we did during our stay and definitely recommend!

Eating pancakes

The first evening we had a nice dinner in Beekbergen. We went to de Pannekoek, a small restaurant where pancakes are still baked the traditional way. You have all kinds of pancakes there, from sweet to savoury, and there is a cosy atmosphere (despite the coronagraphs).

De Hoge Veluwe National Park
You're at Topparken Beekbergen by car 15 minutes from entrance Hoenderloo to National Park De Hoge Veluwe. To visit the park you pay an entrance fee, but then you can use the bikes for free. So it's smart not to rent a bike in advance and just go there by car, so you won't spend twice as much money.

In the park, you can enjoy cycling and walking along different routes. Maps are posted throughout the park and there is also regular signage on the cycle paths to the different areas. We stopped at the centre from Hoenderloo to have lunch and visit the museum, then cycled back to the entrance at our leisure.

Liederbos

As you walk down the park towards the N788 and cross there, you walk straight into the Liederbos. This forest is incredibly large and very quiet. Lovely to take a walk, clear your head and fully enjoy your holiday!

Burgers' Zoo

I myself had never been to Burgers' Zoo before, but it is so worthwhile. It is a beautiful zoo with many different animals and also different areas. One moment you imagine yourself in a kind of tropical rainforest and the next moment you walk in the middle of the ocean. The picture of this elephant already shows how green the park is. Burgers' Zoo is 15 minutes by car from TopParken Beekbergen, so it's easy to get there.
