Activity tip 1 - Take a ride in an old steam train

Travelling by train is something many children love. And during your holiday in the Veluwe, you can take a very special train ride with the family. Board the train in Apeldoorn and tour through the Veluwe countryside to Dieren. On the way, you will stop in Beekbergen and Eerbeek, among other places, and tour around in a real steam train. This family outing is provided by the Veluwse Stoomtrein Maatschappij, which owns a number of historic steam locomotives. Are you ready for it?

Activity tip 2 - Climbing and scrambling in Klimbos Garderen

Fancy an active family trip in the Veluwe region? Then a visit to Klimbos Garderen is a good idea. Prepare the kids for a day of climbing and scrambling and complete special courses. For example, follow the gnome trail in Hoenderloo and walking becomes a party for the kids as well. Dress them up in style with a pointed hat and boots and set off into nature with the whole family. Activity tip 5 - Thrill-seeking at Julianatoren

When it comes to the best family activities in the Veluwe region, Julianatoren is a must. This is the region's theme park where you will find plenty of entertainment for the whole family. From a ride in the Ferris wheel to challenging roller coasters: you won't get bored easily here. Step into a bumper car in the shape of Jut the mouse or meet mascots Jut and Julia as they walk around the park. Enthusiastic? Get in the car from your chalet on the Veluwe and drive to Apeldoorn.

Activity ip 6 - Out and about on the holiday park or campsite

Combine a fun family outing in the Veluwe with an overnight stay at one of the Veluwe holiday parks or camping sites. So you can undertake several family activities in just a few days. Activity tip 9 - Eating pancakes in the forest

Combine a trip through the woods with a visit to the pancake house Het Uilenbos in Lunteren. Here, besides eating delicious pancakes, the kids can also cuddle with the animals at the petting zoo or play in the playground.

Activity tip 10 - Animal spotting at Burgers' Zoo

Finally, visiting Burgers' Zoo is highly recommended. This zoo is wildly popular for a reason. Animals are and remain children's favourites and so they are sure to get excited when they spot a chimpanzee or elephant at the zoo. During a day at Burgers' Zoo, you walk from one habitat to another. There is a section with animals from the ocean, and a little later you come face to face with animals living in the desert.
