Holiday inspiration for 2020
With a new year ahead of us, it's also time to start making new plans. What do you want to do this year? And where do you want to go on holiday? When you are planning a holiday or weekend getaway, you have something to look forward to, and that is a nice feeling! Could you still use some inspiration for your 2020 holiday? We are going to share five tips for destinations in the Netherlands that are definitely worth a visit. Will you read along?
Tip 1 - Beach holiday on the Dutch coast
A holiday on the coast should always rank as number one as far as we're concerned. After all, getting a breath of fresh air by the sea is a wonderful feeling all year round! Especially when you opt for a TopParken holiday resort. Stay in Noordwijk or Egmond, right by the dunes. This means that the beach is always nearby.
When you do choose a seaside holiday, I'm sure there are plenty of activities that come to mind. Hiking, having a drink at a beach club, and sunbathing for an afternoon during the summer. Of course, all of this is possible at any beach destination in the Netherlands. However both Egmond and Noordwijk offer so much more than just that. How about horseback riding in Egmond aan Zee, for example? You will find several riding stables here that offer beautiful rides. In the summer months you can even trot over the beach. In Noordwijk you could visit the Oude Jeroenskerk next to the beach. You can even climb it!
Tip 2 - Holiday near the German border
Would you like to experience a holiday close to home, while also discovering some completely different areas? Then a holiday in the Achterhoek, near the German border, is simply perfect. You will find a TopParken resort in Lichtenvoorde. This is one of the so-called "church villages" in the Achterhoek where you can spend your holiday in peace and quiet. Get a taste of the rural life and experience this area at its best. You will stay here in a waterfront location in the woods. Mills, farms, and nature reserves are scattered throughout the landscape. Furthermore, most of these mills can be visited and some farms are also open to the public. For example, visit a cheese farm and see with your own eyes how our Dutch specialties are produced. Of course, you can also have a taste!
Tip 3 - Hiking holiday in the Veluwe
The Veluwe is and will always remain one of the most popular holiday destinations of the Netherlands. This is why this area should not be missing from this list. There is a good reason why there are five TopParken holiday resorts located in this area where you can enjoy a stay with the family or one for just the two of you. Whether you opt for a TopParken resort in Ede, Lunteren, Wageningen, or Beekbergen, you will always stay in nature. And that makes this place more than suitable for a hiking holiday.
During a holiday in the Veluwe, you will come across a different piece of nature every time you walk. Enjoy vast heathlands, but also sand drifts and forests. Discover a number of nice hiking routes! Certainly, the route that goes through National Park De Hoge Veluwe is a must!
Tip 4 - Cycling holiday in South Limburg
Do you enjoy being active in nature? Then a holiday in Limburg is for you. This province is the number one cycling province of the Netherlands and that means that there are many beautiful routes waiting for you to discover them. Stay at Résidence Valkenburg and from there get on your bike to make your way through the rolling green landscape that is so typical of southern Limburg. This holiday resort is near both Maastricht and Valkenburg, so be sure to make a stop to explore these cities. Or just explore these cities by bike! For example, this bike route that goes through and around Maastricht is one of our favorites. From the Vrijthof to the historic market square, you won't miss out on any of the sights. And after a round trip through the city center, continue the cycling tour along the River Park Maasvallei and make a stop at beer brewery De Fontein in Stein.
Tip 5 - City trip in North Brabant
Finally, Brabant is a lovely holiday destination. It's not for nothing that people often talk about the Brabant hospitality. Indeed, you will soon feel at home in this province. The cities are not too big and certainly a bit quiet compared to some other cities in our country. In Den Bosch you can wander through the streets to discover the various historic buildings at your own pace. Of course, you can also taste a real Bossche Bol here, because this is the place where these culinary delights originated from. Doing a workshop with your children at Choco Loca is really fun. Here you will learn how to prepare a Bossche Bol yourself. Of course, you will be allowed to eat it afterwards!
Turn your city trip into a wonderful holiday in Brabant by booking a place to stay at Résidence de Leuvert. From here, you can reach the lively and bustling city of Den Bosch within just 15 minutes by car.
