World Cup mountain biking in Valkenburg
The international cycling union UNI announced that on May 5th, 6th and 7th, 2023, Valkenburg will be the site of the World Cup for mountain biking. During this first weekend in May, the opening game competition will be ridden with the cross country component. This will be the first time Valkenburg organizes a world cup competition in mountain biking. The hilly village in South Limburg will be replacing the German city of Albstadt.
Up to this year, Mathieu van der Poel and Milan Vader have been regular competitors in the top 10 of the World Cup mountain biking events. The same goes for Anne Tauber and Anne Terpstra in the female competition. After 31 years, a world cup competition will once again be ridden in The Netherlands: a great boost for cycling sports in our own country.
The event is also a good boost for the region of Valkenburg. The World Cup of mountain biking is a valuable addition to the list of existing cycling events, such as the Amstel Gold Race or the Résidence Valkenburg Climbing Classic.
Are you a cycling enthusiast looking for a place to unwind completely before or after an exciting competition? At Résidence Valkenburg, you will be staying at a luxurious holiday home at cycling distance from the start/finish. The holiday park is an ideal base camp if you will be cheering on the mountain bikers.
